I had to do this today so I thought I would have a go at doing a write up with pics  :? I am no mechanic so if you kill yourself or your truck while following this, don't come crying to me  =; I may not have done this in the correct order etc, ( I undid all the box mounting bolts before separating the shaft's etc so had to put them all back in again.well I will tomorrow cos i was working in the dark ! ) But it should help those that may need it cos the haynes manual was [!Expletive Deleted!]  :^o

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOLTS IN PICS 2 AND 3 NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED IN ORDER TO SEPARATE THE JOINT FROM THE SHAFT !!!!!!!!!

WOW this photobucket is awesome !! much better than photobox
Hope this helps

DID YOU GO For a new box in the end then mate.

barriesheene:
Nope, I got a seal kit but to be honest I cant see how to change it other than taking the back off the box and pushing the shaft out through the back. tbh it's going to be a couple of weeks till i can afford a new box and I need it for work  :'( If anybody can tell me an idiots way off just changing the steering shaft seal it would be much appreciated  [-o< I will be getting a new box asap but for now it's going to be a botch job £££££££££. Oh was the write up ok I've NOT altered pics like that before.? What you think for a first attempt ? Should haynes be worried

Looks good to me  ;) Maybe make it a sticky?

I would rate it better than Ha**es cause it shows a real used vehicle  ;)  only criticism is the 2nd pic, bit close in to see location but I know where you mean.
