hi

some of you will know me from laning with martin (i'm gill)

i just wanted to put a posting on the forum to say that i am taking part for the 6th year this year in race for life. The event will take place on the 1st June at Lister park in Bradford. When i took part in the first year i only knew 2 friends who had cancer and survived which is fantastic. Then in 2006 my work colleague sadly died of cancer after only suffering for a short time. Then around Christmas this year we found out that my great aunt and a friend of ours had just been diagnosed with cancer. At the moment they are both undergoing treatment to try and beat the disease. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that all will go well for them both.

I am looking forward to taking part again although it is quite an emotional day for everyone doing the race. I would like to try and raise as much money as possible so if you would like to sponsor me please visit my online sponsoring page the address is as follows

thankyou to everyone so far for your support in sponsoring me on this event

i will keep you all updated on my training up to the event and i will put an update on here before the end of the week to let you all know how much i have raised so far with all your help. i will hopefully have some photos of the day that i will post as and when after the event

i have just got some sad news from my mum tonight that my great aunt sadly lost her fight to cancer on friday just gone.  so she will be in my thoughts for much of the time i spend leading up to and beyond the race.
