Houston we have another problem.....

Basically, the car cut out today & refuses to restart.
I've checked fuel etc, but it's not getting a spark from the coil.
Tried another coil i know is good, but it's lifeless !!! The king lead is relatively new.
I need some more pointers please guys.

Right has your dizzy got an ignition pack screwed to it? or is it behind the passenger head light?

Only reason i ask is, there is a common fault with dizzy mounting ignition amps, they tend to blow due to a bad earth between the dizzy body and the engine block, replace the amp pack and run a seperate earth wire from dizzy to body,

Had a customer who had been to a very well known landrover garage in the midlands for a dizzy fault, he had to pay for 3 amp packs after they all went bang, disco was recovered to me, thus found the earth fault, spoke to landrover tech guys and they had came across the same problems, so there you go, and my customers disco has done over 35.000 now with no problems, hope that helps, id check all the simple stuff first, the three wires to the dizzy pack should have 12v with ignition on, earth, and switch back to coil, good luck

Assuming you have checked to ensure theres actualy power getting to the coil then ^wot ee said^

daveyravey:
Nope, not checked that far as it's stuck at the side of the road 5 miles from my house & i can't get it recovered, period !
I do have a spare amp pack to try, after all it's only 2 bolts.
Failing that, looks like a phone call to a sparky.
Thanks again guys    :D

Range Rover Blues:
When you put the amp pack on, put a blob of grease behind it and like EE said, an earth wire under one of the bolt heads.
