Do TDi Autos have more power than manuals??

<< < (4/5) > >>

Range Rover Blues:
The kickdown cable is on the top of the fuel pump, on the other side of the throttle lever to the cable (there's an extra brakcet bolted to both the pump body and throttle lever) but as best i can tell it doesn't kick down with the same enthusiasm as a V8.

stuvy:
the kick down makes alot of noise but not much shifting! unlike the V8 auto boxes,

A mate has a 6.2 V8 diesel in his GMC day van, the column box has a double kick down feature meaning fast and bloody fast!!!

Id love to pt the engine in my disco! :police:

Range Rover Blues:
I was talking with RRR wgho has the TDi auto about double kickdown.  My V8 will swap down a couple of cogs, even on the motorway if the fancy takes it, the second change being forced by the true kickdown, the last half inch of throttle pedal.  Although it's the saem 'box you don't notice it on the TDi, I reckon bvecause it's valved differently.  There's no advantage in dropping 2 dears on the TDi and it'll probably damage the engine, plus TDis have more grunt anyway.

I tend to find the double kickdown only comes in on the LSe when it's either accelerasting to takeoff speed, or towing.  Either way it's power vs torque, each playing it's best hand.
