We spent six years defending this island from the nazis,and then what does the government do???they build a channel tunnel!!!!so some other country can do exactly what hitler tried to do,and this time they would probably succeed cos this time they can walk into Britain!!!!you might as well p**s all over the graves of the british and allied soldiers graves that died in the second world war,and say thanks for nothing

Warfare has changed, and besides a quick bombing would close up the tunnell.

Exactly. In the incredibly unlikely event of war with a mainland European power it would take hours to cave it in. The planners must have considered the threat from the USSR at the time of building.

I could say what I think is responsible for the fact that this is one of the longest periods of peace in European history but it'd veer towards the political and quite probably cause a row!  :lol:
