Dog window rubbers

(1/2) > >>

The Electrician:
Has anyone ever changed the window rubbers on the dog windows of a Discovery 1 (later version) 1997.
the dog windows being the side windows in the rear cargo area, wear the back of the fold down seats are.

only my rubber is split and looks a bit naff, so i was thinking of changing them, bit wondered if anyone else had done it, not bothered about doing it (absolute doddle) but any idea of what they cost.

my local LR dealer isn't interested unless it is a Discovery 3 or some other current model (blimey, they are so snotty).
cheers.
Gary.

auf_wiedersehen_pet:
Great question - I need the answer too.

My seals have more splits than a bunch of can-can dancers.

Range Rover Blues:
I've done similar ones and I think a length of 17amp cable form Halrfrauds plus a bit of soap and your ok.

Top Tip, if the rubber is goosed then cut it to get the glass out, that's when you risk breaking it anyway.

Or pop into you rlocal bodyshop/autoglass and offer them folding stuff.  Might be about £40 though, that's what a local fitter wanted to do a RRC screen.

That is how we got my old rubbers out, we just cut the rubber on the out side with a stanley knife. Dead easy.

We needed some rope really or wire as doing it without is very hard. We used 2 screw drivers and had to put the rubber on the glass first then the disco. So many times i thought the glass was going to break. :(

We did it in the end! I got the rubbers with the disco and took me nearly 3 years to replace them.  I have found water got in (suprise suprise) and actually rotted the back of the interior trim cardboard!

lenster:
i picked up a pair of second hand rubbers from eqicar in wolverhampton for £15 and a bloke at rac auto winscreens changed them professionally for £10. properly sealed and water tight.
