2.5 n/a to 200tdi - how hard can it be?

got to have a laugh mate, all the crap going on around here at the moment, no funny anythink.

Ive done the conversion and my mates just done it,theputting the engine in is the easy bit,its all the plumbing,(intercooler pipes,rad hoses,air cleaner and so on)thats a pain, in my opinion by the time you have messed about doin all this,new intercooler hoses,rad hoses,bit and bobs cos it does all add up you might as well drop a defender engine in,job done trust me.And if you are doin it outside on the street like I did its a right ball ache

its not hard to do the pipe work - you just need the ability to work it all out and make a neat job of it.

Its certainley harder to be able to source a defender 200tdi engine and bits.

 it would be getting done on his driveway with no roof over it - not Ideal i know.  He's got the disco sat there at the moment which is what got him thinking about the swap.

There is a slim possibility of a 300tdi defender engine out of my 130 but need to run that past a few of you first too  :oops:

Yes,if you have that ability,and tools,and time and weather on your side and a source of parts you are gonna have to butcher to make fit!!!!.......its ok if you have a four post lift,all the gear and a workshop out of the rain,but if you havent its a miserable job!!!

 and yes its harder to find a defender engine in the first place but boy its worth it!!!!
