cat or not??
(1/1)
paul and sam:
does anyone have any thoughts on this ........... i have been told that as the age of my disco is around the time that some were fitted without cats if i need to replace them i can fit a standard exhaust without cats fitted (i have been told this by a mot station  ) anyone know if this is true or am i going to fit them then have to buy a cat exhaust? many thank
J B:
its not really a "cat" its a particle filter, so therefor can be replaced with a straight through pipe
as the mot only tests the thickness of the smoke, you can adjust the power screw on the pump to get it into the requred spec
Les Henson:
The MOT requirement is not to have a CAT fitted, but that the vehicle passes the emissions test, so you can replace the cat downpipe with an earlier straight downpipe.

I asked this question on a different topic....

Everybody argued about it being a cat or a particle filter but everyone agreed that neither was needed!
:P
Jake:
I changed mine for a ESR2297 a while ago.
