300tdi MPG!

<< < (3/6) > >>

Disco Matt:
I thought mine was bad! I get about 400 miles to a tank, was getting 500 before the red light came on. I think having sorted the handling out has had an adverse effect...

muddyjames:
mine is an auto and on diesel I was getting 20-21mpg towing was 18mpg  but on veg oil I am getting 25mpg and that was a mixture of motorway, traffic jams, running about town etc.

kiteman0:
mines 300 tdi discovery with m/t
for £20 of fuel i can get anything between 130 - 140 miles
paying £1.05 per litre
that includes some green lanes
its alot better than my 200 tdi that i had a cpouple of years ago

My 300 with EGR off and a slight tweak of the pump and new injectors with a K&N returns on average 450 miles from first click of the pump to light on.  Its dropped lately as I've gone up a size in tyres but thats explained up ^ there.  I have had 625 but I took forever to get anywhere for weeks and did my nut in eventually!

I have noticed though that the top half of the tank lasts waaaay longer then the bottom - I can get from full to 3/4 over 120-160 miles depending on driving style but I can only average 85-100 each for the last 2 quarters of a tank - weird.

I regularly put red-ex fuel system cleaner through it, I run my tyres at 34 front and 36 rear and it actually returned some of the best figures (not got them to hand though) with the roof-rack and roof tent on and fully packed for 4 camping in Europe last summer - mind you, I was driving miss daisy at the time to enjoy the scenery

I also find I get poor figures using supermarket fuel - tesco is very tempting as there's one on my weekly commute just of the A74, but I avoid it as that first 1/4 figure drops to 100-130 if I do, so I stick to BP as the difference in price is about the same as the loss of economy, roughly and the BP coffee is way better than none in tescos shop

I have the same issue with my tank regarding getting loads of miles from the top half and a lot less from the bottom.

I'm going to stop using Tescos now as well.
