rear prop rubber gater.... which way round?????

(1/3) > >>

disco-v8:
well im going through the rubber dough nuts 1 every week!!!!!!

and this is the out come of one after 5 hours of offroading

well ive just bought another with the rubber bush that goes inside the prop shaft and want to make sure that im putting it on the rite way around?????

well i usualy put it so that when the car is going forward, the prop shaf pulls on the thicker part of the dough nut, where i thought i would be stronger.... is this correct????

thought id do this little pic to help out

the part in red is the propshat part, so the axle and diff would be behind the rubber dough nut.... and the direction of rotation is if the car was in a forward gear

extreme90:
adam do away with it and have a normal flange

Jake:
If its a genuine GKN replacement it will have a direction arrow for the bolts.
If you put it on the wrong way round they fall apart.
The best thing, as Dan pointed out is to replace the rear prop with a normal 4 bolt and change the diff flange.
No more problems

Range Rover Blues:
On the outside there should be some small arrows marked to show you which way the bolts go through.  That said mine were the wrong way round, but like you said the thicker part is in tension.  I'd haved guessed that wrong myself though.

Is your truck lifted?
