Drains.......
Boggert:
Oh what a day...
Well there I was getting some coal in, when the good lady flushed the toilet and I noticed water coming up through the drain by the coal bunker... Blast I have a blocked drain... so here my day started
I open the inspection cover (IC) near that drain... It was Full  So down the line to the next... again Full!
So down to the main IC by the road... totally full
By now I have all the IC off and its not looking good but at least I know where the blockage is. So up to my parents to get my Rods.
After stirring up the porridge :-> nothing happened, blast this is going to be tougher than I think, by now the neighbour has show up as he could smell the problem :->
We debate the best course of action when suddenly a loud "BURP" from the drain  and then movement  it all started to move at rapid speed to the point I had to jump back as a torrent of sewage shot down the backed up pipes and sprayed out of the man hole  what with the fountain of brown stuff and the noise I'm in stitches laughing.
God I hate drains
Disco Matt:
At least the worst I've had to deal with was clean water run-off from the garden filling a drain with gravel!
muddyjames:
sounds like a pleasant day then!
I stayed on a large boat this weekend which was built for accomodation groups of people and bunkbed cabins downstairs and kitchen/seeting up stairs. All very lovely except, in the females showers there was some brown stuff that had bubbled up through the drain and didnt smell too clever. It cant have been sewage as the loos were on the main land (this boat never moves and only floats for an hour at high tide). We think sand must have got into the bilge at some point or something but it didnt half pong.

We have a waste services company based just outside the village. One of my mates is their fitter for the lorries. One day they were short-handed, so he went out jetting drains, told the bloke at the controls to gently ease the pressure up, but instead it got put on full blast. He got covered in the spray, standing at the manhole holding the hose!
hobbit:
Sounds like someone dropped a container of andrews down there somewhere
