Think that video should be supplied with ever kinetic rope sold. Seen this happen more times than it should, but they are an amazing piece of kit.
As far as your mods go i would take it slower. Get a few things, see what happens and see if they need changing or adding too. If they don't work at least you haven't wasted too much money (you can always flog them on eblag).
How are you bending that many steering bars!

winch is not a bad idea, but it doesn't suit everyone. Personally i find winching boring as hell, so i try to avoid it (will get one eventually though!)

sorry mate, of course it will snap with a run up like that :shock:
1-2 metres is ample run up... but that was about 5 :shock: :?
no wonder it snapped. no sympathy im afraid :-#

i have one, blinding rope, really useful for the RIGHT situation.
wouildnt be without one because in the right hands they are brill.

think you have hit the nail on the head TDi90 - its that of instruction and training. Most of have learned by experience of our own actions and watching others with no formal training in recovery techiques. Some are fortunate to learn without damage or injury, others are not as fortunate.

I dunno, i class it as common sense, big stretchey rope pulled tense by big landy, what do you expect to happen if you stick it on a rusty mounting????
