Sticky transfer stick
davidjmiller:
Hi, my 300 TDi auto which I've had for a copule of months has a very sticky transfer box stick. So the car is stationary, I stick it into neutral and apply the handbrake, put my foot on the fotobrake and push the other stick forward. It's pretty hard to do and takes quite some force. Coming back out of low box it's not quite as bad but still quite tough.
Is there anything wrong?? Should I be worried??
Thanks,
David
burgerman:
HAve you used it much ?? Most of the time they free up them selves with use, Or pop of the internal plastic cover and lube it up
davidjmiller:
Thanks, no I've tried it maybe 4-5 times since I had it. Based on the condition I guess the car has not been off-road much.
When I pop the plastic cover what should I lube it with??
Cheers,
David
The Fat Controller:
if you're not sure and in huntingdon pop into kwik fit ,theres a bloke there that'll help you
boss:
have you tried moving forward slightley then trying again? i dont think the transfer box is a syncromesh ie the teeth on the cogs are straight so they have to be lined up properley but dont quote me on that.
