General Club Stuff > New Members - Say Hello
New boy in Herts.
Landy Andy:
Hi thought I should introduce myself and say hello.
Brought Defender 90 TD5 XS in early December. Have already been infected, and that has resulted in, 2nd hand nudge bar, spot lights, steering guard, CD player, window grills, and snorkel. Lots more planed plus some off roading and overlanding. Hopping more reliability than my 03 reg Shogun that I just swapped in. That’s a lie, as I know it will have probs but hope to be repairing myself not paying £90 per hour per idiot.
Any good garages near me? (Hertford, Hertfordshire)
Any one local?
Andy
sleeplessparadise:
Hello and welcome :D I am sure we have a few members local to you who will be able to recommend someone to you.

Hi Andy - I'll keep an eye out for you !
As for garages...........AJD Landrovers @ Nazeing Glassworks, Broxbourne, are good for second hand parts and new OEM stuff (you don't get charged the main stealer marked-up prices !), Andy (the guy who runs AJD) is also a BFG stockist - and the guys who work there really know their stuff. He's also got Rovacom diagnostics - but charges £40 a session.
Howe Engineering at Hare Street (just north of Buntingford) do my MoT's, they also can supply parts and do diags, but I've not used them for that yet.
Most of the local main stealers around here are arrogant muppets (and I'm being very polite now !) - I don't trust them at all, as I've been lied to once too often

Landy Andy:
Hi Jimbo
Will also look out for you, as am only round corner in Puckeridge. Intresting to hear about Howe Engineering as v close to me.
Is it worth removing EGR??
Difficult?
Price Parts required?
Andy
Jimbo:
Andy,
The EGR setup shoves a bucketful of your nice dirty exhaust gas back into the inlet manifold, as some sort of attempt at reducing emissions............but mine flew through the MoT - without the EGR - the tester said it was the lowest reading he'd seen on a Td5 !
Drop Ian ('Porny' on here) a PM, he does a really good EGR bypass kit - well worth the money in my opinion.
Jim
