electrical adapters
muddyjames:
I have a 240volt adapter that reduces 240v from 1.5volts to 12volts. It has various connections on the end for plugging into walkmans, gameboys, etc etc. you know the things I am on about.
Could I chop off all the different connectors and fit a cigarette lighter socket on the end and then plug my 12volt air pump into it so I can blow my lilo up inside rather than on a tarmac road and drain my battery and risk getting a puncture in me bed?
My main worry is that is the adapter designed for this type of usage etc. I know narssing!
If you need any more info I can try and give you more!
carbore:
Hello,
I dont know off the top of my head but you need to check tha Amps of the Compressor vs the Amps rating of the adapter, possibly the adapter will be a bit low so the compressor could burn it out. Places like Halfords do sell apapters with hiugher ratings and some car battery cahrgers have ciggy sockets on them (I have a jump box that does, much more useful than jump leads btw! esp if you own a car you dont use very often!)
Evilgoat:
Probobly not, the current you need wont be there :(
Check the output of the power supply and the requirement for the pump. Mine needs about 2A (2000mA)
Disco Matt:
You can buy a 230v AC - 12v DC transformer that is specifically designed for powering things like this - we have one that we used to use with a coolbox.
