I no longer own a 4x4...and i've bought a car !
cardiff_gareth:
After looking at another Freelander that was equally as bad as the last 4 I have decided to give the Freelander looking a miss for the near future and bought my self a 51 plate Renault Laguna 1.9dci Privilage Sports Tourer, the 4x4 days will be back.........someday ;)
:'( :'(
lambert:
You see if you had looked beyond green oval you could have had a better level of motor and still had 4x4.
ben_haynes:
NOOOOOOOOOOOO
just be careful have changed 5 or 6 turbo's, replaced Valves and skimmed heads as the turbo seals and bearings go and chucks bits of bearings through Valves and the head
keep a very careful eye out for any sort of excessive smoke out the exhaust as it could be the start of all your Nightmares
skip:
Damn not a mkII laguna, you'd have better off with a freelander.
Do youself a favor and sell it quick before it goes wrong!!!
Major electrical gremlins in those. a friend has one and it's does all sorts of weird stuff. like windscreen wipers that do what they please, spurious engine management faults, dashboard backlights that are on when they shouldn't be and vice versa.
On the upside they go like stink and handle really really well.
Disco Matt:
My Dad had one as a company car in '02 - went like stink, handling was amazing, but it kept having electronic gremlins ("Fuel injection system faulty, consult your Renault dealer" - we did, they didn't have a clue!). He also had to have a new cylinder head as an injector welded itself to the head.
One simple thing, if yours buzzes at a certain RPM check the air intake pipe. On ours, there was a small plastic clip or bolt missing. The problem was cured when I shoved a spare bolt through the hole and tightened it up.
