Ah, lovely, thanks.  I had some carb cleaner somewhere I'll try to dig out.  I'm tempted to bung some silicone hoses in (partly because the colour's quite fetching) but IIRC they're quite pricey so I'll leave it until it's necessary...

try hoses direct nr Doncaster...they are top guys and often a lot cheaper....mind ive still spent thousands with em over the years!!

petrol will work aswell

One technique I saw for intercooler cleaning - get hold of some paraffin, fill the intercooler (after removing it obviously!) and leave to stand. Then drain into a suitable container and rinse. Repeat the process until the water coming out during the rinsing is clean (ish).

Paraffin is a lot cheaper than petrol!
