Oil Change and Clean out!!!

(1/1)

Fireyred:
Changing oil today and filters!!!

I was as advised the following-:

When you do an oil change to use a little diesel in the oil tank between the empty and re-fill (warm it a little then empty it) and re-fill with new oil to help clean it out?

Is this correct an a good idea???

Cheers

NO, if you really need to use either a flushing additive or flushing oil, diesel is neither and may leave enough residue to cause problems, one home brew method is to use a litre ATF in the sump with the old oil for 20-30 miles of light driving, but it still needs a double/triple change to get rid of the residue (~5-15% of the total volume isn't drained).

Note they don't recommend a double change, but I'd still do one, and its a NO LOAD oil as its thin and won't support the bearings under-load...

Sorted now.

Thanks, went and got the right stuff, flush out stuff and used that, new filters too, so it should run a little better now.

See how I go.

Just gotta change fuel filter now!!!
