3AM / 5AM air flow meters

(1/1)

jjsaul:
3AM / 5AM air flow meters???

Are they interchangeable?

I've got a 3AM on my 1992 (running 4.6 with 3.9 injection system) but am wondering if i can replace my (possibly faulty) AFM with a 5AM type as i can get my hands on a brand new one.

Any help gratefully received,

Cheers

Garth:
Have a look at the link below it lists what type fits what age etc.  Mine is 1991 3.9 with 3AM and I am expecting delivery of 5AM iminantly ( I have hot running problems since LPG sytem went faulty and I had some major backfires)   i'll keep you posted as to what happens when fitted.

Cheers Garth

I ended up ordering a 5AM to replace the 3AM on my 1992 (running 3.9 injection system), it hasn't turned up yet.

I'm having problems with the engine running very rich and am hoping the AFM could be a cause of the problem...

Garth:
Mine arrived today :D  looks identical to 3AM but no markings but fitted tonight and runs much smoother set up mixture by ear and smell to run rich (better than weak). Going to local MOT place to pinch exhaust gas analyser tommorrow to set up properly.
Keep you posted.
