Vibration at 60mph

<< < (3/5) > >>

j.stobart:
try the diffs for play, i had a similar noise a while ago, and my diff was completely shot. Easy way to check is to check for lateral movement at the end of the props where it joins the dif flange. also check rotational play, is there much movement before take up?

Bob696:
Not UJs :-(

Replaced both on the rear prop today. One was deffinatly on its way out so hopefully thats the 'weep weep' noise sorted.

Swop wheels tomorrow.

Please dont mention diffs going

Bob696:
well it wasnt the tyres or wheels either (although the vibration was notably smaller with the other wheels on)

At a loss now. Power steering pump is also losing fluid down the drop arm at a great rate of knots. Could the steering be the problem?

muddysteve:
have you tried the front prop?

i find they go at the tbox end at regular intervals, you might not be able to feel it with the prop still on the truck

Bob696:
new front prop (changed after problem started)

Getting worse btw .. now feels like car is shaking itself to bits and the steering is well 'wobbly' at 55. Sounds like the bearings (as the wheels were sound on the 110) although they check out OK ie no wobble. Might end up replacing the steering damper as well.
