I want to bin my engine, suggestions for replacment?

Season greetings folks,
As xmas is now just around the corner i've started to think ahead to the new year and little jobs to keep me busy with the Vit.

My little Vitara has a 8v carb lump which has covered quite a few miles and is starting to show signs of it's age( just like me).

I would like to know if it's possible to fit a later Vitara engine and how simple or impossible this maybe?

Would the EFI engine be a good idea or do i stick with the good old Carb setup.

Answers on a postcard please.......

Kinda depends how mechanically minded you are.

Easiest swap is an 8V carb model you could and get lucky buy a whole one rob the engine and sell on the rest and make a profit.  

If i could find one i would fit the peugeot diesel engine and box out of a vit commercial or an FSO Caro but these are rare.You can get an adaptor from acme and fit a volkswagen diesel.

The 16v engine and 8v injection would be another choice but getting rarer and more expensive to find and then you have the hassle of the wiring in the injection system so you would need to splice in the loom.

hi phil mazda or pug derv lump there is a gearbox and t-case on fleabay(not sure for which thou) for it just have to wire it up but being a derv wont take much wiring

Just done all the seals and Gaskets on Rabbit and its like a new engine. I would highly roeccomend compression testing her to see if this will help. Originial Sizuki gasket on here had gone in two places on 2 and 4. Gasket on the last Sidekick I did wasnt too healthy too.

She was struggling on hills, heavy on fuel, limited top end and running as rough as a badgers behind.

It may be that this and a tune are all you need.
