I thin you'll find that a spacesaver spare has the same diameter as the standard wheels fitted to the car by the manufacturer. having 1 different diameter wheel fitted to your vehicle is illegal and an MOT failure. unless it's a motorbike we're talking about.

In the absence of adequate cash(seemingly the wife thinks new tyres for my truck are not a suitable gift from me to her for christmass!) for a new or remould spare of appropriate size and with the 5th alloy of the set still showing 1.7 to 2mm of tread across it's width i'm going with that for now.
When i get some knoblies i'll either put one of the better old ones to the spare or get a set of 5 fresh tyres if i'm feeling flush.
