Timing belt
marjan:
As I can't find out when the timing belt was last changed on the TDi 300 engine in my Defender 90 I have decided to change it to be on the safe side.
I read somewhere that there is a modified tensioner available, show do I tell if this has been changed or wether it is the original one?.
Bush Tucker Man:
If it was changed by a main-dealer, aren't the belt/pulley/casing marked up with paint???
(plus, far too obviously  , in the service book as well)
extreme90:
you will find out when it comes apart
our disco had allegedly had the upgrade done and was marked on the rad and timing case
stipped it down, guess what
trip accross to our local landy place for me to get a upgraded pully

Hangover:
My advice would be to buy the whole kit and fit the lot, start from scratch, make sure the modified crank pulley is the all in one cast job,not the one with spot welded tin guides.
davidlandy:
didnt the modifed kit have a crank pulley with a lip on it?
I would say that as the kit has been out for so long that it has been done by now.
