hand brake seized
William:
The standard hand brake is far better than a disk brake, they will hold alot lot more, id trust holding a trailer on a steep bank, in fact i do, its part of my job. I think for once landrover actually considered what they were doing when they decided to stick with the transmission hand brake. Had no problems with mine, cant fault it
Cheers will
Tommo:
another thing with a disk is its a bit more exposed to oil/grease and could fail when you least expect it. the drum can get oil in it if the transfer box leaks im guessing but it is more likely to be a progressive problem. giving you time to notice before it gets too bad.
jimthelandyman:
no deed for a handbrake i drove around for weeks when mine siezed just backed it off until i cleaned and rebuilt it.
Ja1983:
mines iffy, i suspect a failing cable, as every now and then it will feel firm, but not move all the way without a good yank...
kizz81:
all fixed
cleaned it out and it holds on a steep slope so its all good
cheers for the advice, kizz
