Evilgoat:
I like my music, more to the point I'm one of those who it has to sound RIGHT and splugring a good few notes on kit isnt beyond me. My Headphones are actully worth more than the tax on both 4x4s for a year

Replaced the dead speakers in Sereity some time ago and not too impressed, the acoustics are lousy and the mountings arent great, after some tweaking I'm more or less happy with the top end, but no low end. Meaning that from rock, to some of the weirder stuff I listen to, there isnt any 'kick' there. So decided to get a 300TDI door panel and give a go at rebuilding the built in sub.

Speakers came today, have stripped out the old ones and dropped the new ones in (Fusion, yes cheap but it took me about 45 mins to decide on them over £140 of infinity ones :) ) Currently hooked up to the stereo in here being put through their paces. Need to order cables now.

Will post pics of it all if people are interested. Dont think I'm going to retain the LR AMP, was going till till I opened up the amp and looked at the build quality

End result is to keep it looking as stock as poss, I dont want a huge sub in there.

Chris Putt:
Ill be watching this post with interest.

I have currently a set of infintity 6x9s fitted badly in the rear, and a set of 5" in the front doors, I have little or no bass. very poor when I listen to mainly house and drum and bass.

Im looking at fitting a baby sub in my armrest at the moment.........

Jake:
Unfortunetly the Discovery is a rubbish place for bass unless you go down the subwoofer route.
Believe me, i've tried
Hence why i now run one of these

12" 1000w running from a 500w bridged amp
These are running direct from my Sony head unit

I'm a very fussy sound listener.
From all of my musical past (playing guitar, being a *proper* club DJ) i've got a good ear (no i haven't broken them clubbing) and expect a lot from a sound system.
I'm very pleased with how my car sounds.
Lots but not too much bass and plenty of mid and treble sound.
A good overall balance which is happy to blast anything from Rock to Dance and anything inbetween

I have a 12" Base cannon with built in amp in the boot on a Jack plug so I can pull it out quick if the space is needed ,in the front doors I have a couple of infinity speakers I pulled out of a wrecked fiat at the scrapers  8)  and in the rear pillars I have two blaupunct 5" mids from a vauxhall Scrapers again

Every time I go there I have a mooch around the new comers to see if theres anything interesting they usually charge £2 per speacker 8)

Thrasher:
I used to think the Discovery wasn't bad .. until I got an RR ... they have certainly sorted the "complete" sound out. Jake can concur - Comfortably Numb was rather fun (although I'm still not sure WHY he decided to point the A/C vent up his shorts ;-) )

Oh and we had 2 of the doors open (which kind of takes 6 speakers out of the loop ;-) )
