Winscreen Repairs

We had a couple of chips in the screen which have been repaired- that was free. You can still see the spots and we were told that we can get it replaced at any time if we are not happy for a £50 excess.

Here's the thing: Early next year we move and ship the car to Cape Town so that guarantee is negated.
Will the intense summer sun effect a repair more and is it worth getting a new screen before we go?

I don't think all the heating wires still work but that won't really matter down there.

Any opinions?
