300Tdi economy

The Fat Controller:
my m reg 300tdi auto returns nearly 34 mpg going to and from work.the fuel economy over a long journey is better,nearly 38 mpg

I'd be expecting late 20's to early 30's for a 300 TDi that's near standard.
23 MPG would be good for a V8 but not a TDi, unless you're towing a trailer around all the time.

The CAT won't be helping, especially if it's old, but it shouldn't make that much difference. Try a new air & fuel filter, clean the intercooler on the inside and maybe a tweek on the injector pump diaphram.  :wink:

my 300 manual is returning about 30-34 ive found running a good injector cleaner through it every now and then helps a big amount i my self use millers as this also bosts the octain rate also helps with the veggie oil

my two run about 30mpg plus, one on at's is better both manual with egr blanked and pumps tweeked. blue has no cat and back box. i would expect mid 20's is fair for an auto. alan....
