It took ages to prep the truck, it had a thick layer of comercial lorry paint which hadn't bonded to the layers and layers of military paint underneath.
Invested in a detail sander and an orbital sander, which made life a little easier & eventually got it back to a decent enough base. The original factory paint as it worked our. Gave the truck a coat of etch primer, and then 3 coats of grey primer sanding with 240 grit inbetween each coat.
I got the paint from Fascinating Finishes on Ebay - Nato Green (Satin Finish) which I was recommended to thin at 50% ......... tho when applied through the spray gun it ran like water off the body work.
It worked fine through the spray gun at 20% thinners to 80% paint. Then just layered it up sanding with 1200 grit and degreasing the body inbetween coats. Made sure i got plenty of heat in the garage too which brought the drying time down from 12 hours per coat to approx 2 hours!!
Got the spray gun from Screwfix (£20) and a roll of 240 and 80 grit sand paper.
Hope that helps - SWMBO thinks im a geek for putting all this on here !!!
