Warning light coming on

Disco has been stood for several days as we did a long weekend away. Drove it to work and about halfway in I noticed the handbrake warning light on. Now I know this also does the brake fluid level as well but the weird thing was that as soon as I drove off or the revs picked up, the light would go away. Does this light also do battery power / alternator efficiency ??

if its been parked a while, could just be the handbrake switch getting sticky.
