In that case the camera has not been caliberated recently, which might help his case.

My dad got a ticket for 64mph in his motorhome in a 40 limit.

I rang the cops and complained, theres no way he would have been speeding at that location. I checked on the type of camera used, its method of operation etc, and asked to see the pictures. We arranged an appointment.
Later the same day, traffic police turned up at Dads house and advised they wouldnt take the matter any further. Large flat sided vehicles such as trucks/motorhomes...(landrovers??)..... cause false triggers. In this case he was doing 32mph........
He was ready to pay and thought he must have actually done it up to this point.

Its worth challenging.

I had a dubious one a couple of years ago;  I remember being overtaken by a motorbike in Slough, and then a couple of months later I got a speeding fine.  I strongly suspect it was the bike that triggered the camera and not me.

However, given the choice of paying a fine, or going to court, I paid the fine.  With hindsight, because of the considerable hassle of sorting out insurance with points on my license, I wish I'd challenged it.  The police ignore the points after 3 years;  the insurance companies don't ignore the points until hell freezes over!

I dissagree with that.....

I had to inform the surers that I'd been naughty and got 3 points and there was no mid term premium increase....

A friend works for a large company, and he says that unofficially 3 points shows you are normal..... now 6 or 9 says trouble and it also depends on what where and when....

I've certainly not been peanalized for 3 points.
