Anywhere on the engine, the engine hook for removal is always a good spot.

Try checking the fuel line for leaks especially around the water collection thingy at the rear end against chassiss rail they are prone to corrode and let air in and so causes it to take more turns to start as it has to suck the air out first. I bypassed mine altogether, I also thought glow plugs had gone as I was having trouble starting when cold but not when warm.

Bypassing the sedimenter...boy are you brave!! My friend here has just spent (well BP did) NZ$13000 :shock: supplying a new pump and fuel rail and injectors 'cos his '02 freebie didn't have a water trap.
Dunno how the tanks in the UK work but there is a real problem here with water in diesel sometimes as it isn't drained from the bottom of the tanks at the gas stations. :twisted:
