Allegedly the term Jeep sprung up from GP meaning general purpose vehicle. during WWII. When they started making them later they branded them as Jeep. Therefore you could say the word existied before the brand despte the fact its now a trademark
However as someone who has been accused of "Talking Posh" or being a over privileged geek, because I call things their correct name I would have preferred it if the vehicle was referred to as a Landrover or 4x4.

Yes. The original center control prototype ones especially, were reverse engineered copies of the willys jeep.

its historical fact that teh guy ho designed the first S1 did so becuase ha had a WW2 "jeep" that he thought was good.

So maybe the slogan should be changed.
Instead of "There's only one Jeep", perhaps
"The FIRST 4x4xfar",
or
"Who's the Daddy!"
