3.5 revving probs.

(1/2) > >>

v8rangie:
just put new plugs leads dizzy and rotor arm on and when at idle its smooth and fine but if you bring it up say 2000 it will act as though its mising will fluctuate slightly at precise intervals.

Range Rover Blues:
Sounds like mine when I put a new dizzy cap on it.  There are a lot of bad ones about, try putting the old one back on.  Also try the rotor arm, is it one of the tatty ones with a brass rivet through it?

v8rangie:
it still done it before i changed everything so must be something i havnt replaced yet.

i have  a fuel filter to do yet and gonna rreplace all the oils.

Range Rover Blues:
Ah, that's not how I read it, sorry.

Ok you need to check the compression then plus the valve gear to make sure it's mechanically sound.

Listen to the exhaust, does it pulse at all or is it smooth?

Are any of the tappets rattling?

Also try looking at the engine when it's runninng in the dark, you'll see any tracking/arcing then which obviously causes a missfire.

With a V8 you won't notice a miss at idle, do you find it vibrates under load?  Mine's worse in top gear, very noticeable.

v8rangie:
engine is pretty quite.

listen to the exhaust when? at idle? if so then its smooth with no hiccups.

i havnt really driven it as it isn't road legal yet just up and down in our little cul-de-sac. and seems to pull quite well.
