Tesco Extra is Esso or BP fuel
Tesco Express is Esso fuel.

Optimax or whatever its called and the esso variant are different smo, put a car thats capable of making use of it and it makes a hell of a difference.

Most 4x4s dont care if its petrol, deisel or puree'ed badger

Thankyou for that, i rest my case, its the same! :) (and it all meets the same EU/BS standards)

I was referring to diesel, rather than petrol, yes optimax is a better fuel, well higher RON but like you say, only good in a car which takes afvantage of it which is generally only performace vehicles, imported JAP motors and things like scoobies!

EDIT: on a side note, i run my A3 on tesco fuel and fill up about 3 times a week doing nearly 65K a year to work and back - never had a problem with it!

Well having filled the IIA up the other day at tesco i have noticed no difference in the way it goes. But then It is a proper land rover engine with none of the this fancy electrics to go wrong.  :P
and conversely was built on the premise of running on poor quality fuel without a problem.

Stuck 20 quid of diesel in my dad's 90 last night from tesco and that has been out and about today with no problems either.

I'm confused?????  :?:

until last year My Fiancee worked for pace petroleum, formally Q8. there distribution plant sold and delivered the same fuel to both the supermarkets and places like BP  and visa versa they brought from the BP distribution plants too (suppply and demand who had the tankers in the right places at the right time, and yes the only differance was the additives, that incedently form only a tiny part of the fuel and are mainly there to control the smell...
