hi all. i'm insured with direct line had my disco just on 3 weeks and they keep saying they need a certificate of proof that my jeep has a alarm/immobilser fitted, been in contact with the meta alarm centre and they say that the alarm fitted is not thatham approved and should'nt need one.
been back on phone to insuracne and they still reckon its there terms that my spec disco needs a approved immobilser.
the only other thing i can think of doing is changing insurance companys or spending a forture to get a approved alarm fitted
has anyone had trouble like this

V8MoneyPit:
I'd change insurance companies! You'll probably get a lot cheaper than Direct Line too.

You'll get a better response if you post this in the Bar. This section is really for website questions.

Change insurance company..... they should know which alarms are cat 1 or 2 thatcham approved, many companies asked for mine to have one  :?
A 5% discount is not worth fitting a £250 alarm that does nothing more than any other.. apart from that direct line are expensive

Search insurance and a few threads will point you towards better specialist insurers  8)

I agree with the rest of the good folks here ~ ditch Direct Line.

However, if:
a) you told them up front that it only has a factory fitted alarm/immobiliser fitted
b) they quote you based on that information
c) you accepted their quote as offered

then legally you have a contract and they would now appear to be in breach of that and liable to be sued.

Much less hassle to just bin 'em though  :D
