Zeus timing gears??
Mo Murphy:
Heres a link to the original thread, mostly between Richard Turner and the Aussie importers of Zeus timing gears. Mr. Turner had firm evidence of failure of the gears.

Thanks all,
That has answered my question and as I said before that idea is going in the bin.
Ill just stick with a decent belt.
Many thanks

I just did a google on "zeus timing gears" and the first result was this.
Zeus don't seem to have that many fans really. I think their general approach to customer service doesn't give people a nice warm feeling. When I fitted a 101 disc brake kit, I spent most of the day angle-grinding the parts down so they'd fit; which doesn't give huge confidence in their engineering, particularly given the price.

Oooo, Zeus timing gears. Great in principle. In priciple anyway. In practice they 'weren't up to much' (seeing as we're on a family friendly forum and all!).
They had a habit of shedding teeth if anything ingressed into the gear train and the wear rate was alarming (there's no oil to lubicate them).
I never bought them personally but I know a few victims, sorry, people who did.
Good choice to avoid

West Wiltshire Landrovers had one truck in, very noisy and every bearing appeared to be shot. Customer was surprised to learn that Zeus gears where fitted to his engine, even more surprised seeing a garage had charged him £300.00 to change the timing belt a few months previously
