The genuine item crank sprockets have a washer spot welded to the outer edge to act as a guide for the belt. It's very common for this washer to come off and subsequently wreck the belt and inside of the timing cover. The best kit available is from Bearmach - the crank sprocket a single cast item, the belt is a Dayco item, which are excellent quality. The whole timing belt kit costs around £70 and is worth the money in my opinion.
