Spings and Shocks Places to Buy ?

<< < (2/2)

ChrisV8:
This is the 24 million dollar question, but my two pennorth

Daughter has a tdi RR with Police spec Red/white springs all round, stdd shocks. It has lifted it about 1.5 inches, ride is fine but is considerably stiffer than stock, Polybushes instead of rubber all round also helped. No changes to brake pipes and no probs. She also must live not far from you posts on here didirangerover.

I have a Nissan engined Rangie with OME springs and Pro Comps 2 inch lift, poly bushes again it's fine on ride quality and doesn't roll much.  Have lowered the brake pipe mounts but not extra length on the flexibles yet. No probs with greenlaning including Gatescarth pass etc.

My 110 has Britpart + 2 inch springs on front, Bearmach 500 lbs springs on the back megger stiff until I put the Ifor Williams on it then it's superb.
Procomp shocks all round no problems.

Best compromise on a Rangie appears to be red/whites all round with decent extended shocks.

Range Rover Blues:
For shockers Brian I'd say buy ProComp if you are on a budget.  Plus 2" dampers will fit the back of your car as it stands now, the axle can still reach the bump stops without the damper bottoming out.  These will stiffen the ride a little and stop the wallowing somewhat.

The rear brake line is not as big an issue as the fronts becuase it's mounted centraly.

IIRC my springs are Pro-Comp but the Britpart ones are just as good.  The Police Spec shouldn't really lift you car but chances are it's not at the correct ride height anymore.  Standard cars should be 790mm from floor to wheelarch on stock tyres, most aren't.

If you are keeping it near standard then the Polic Spec or H/D springs are probably your best option and less than half the price of a lifted set.

Remember that if you lift the car you open a whole new can of worms and the priceof the springs and dampers is only about half of the true cost of doing it right.

Have a look at my profile

Thanks for all the great advice :)

Im taking my time on selecting the springs.

We noticed that the rear has newish shocks, we are going to clean them to see what make they are.

Back box was chopped off on Friday, Just got to fit new manifold head gaskets now :(
