An alternative use for a Disco & winch

<< < (3/4) > >>

Range Rover Blues:
I had to declare it would only be used for self-recovery.  If you recover another vehicle that's classed as vehicle recovery which starts to look, in their eyes, like hire and reward.

Yeah, I know, recovering another  vehicle is vehicle recovery  .  It's a bit like having a dog, you can never expect it to think like you so you have to see the world through the dog's eyes.  Same with insrance companies, you have to try and think the way they do.  Not for long mind, it can addle you brain.

--- Quote from: "thermidorthelobster" ---On this topic I spoke to my insurer earlier about adding a winch.

Me:  "I'm thinking of fitting a winch."
Insurer:  "A winch?"
Me:  "Yes, a winch."
Insurer:  "And what do you use a winch for?"
Me:  "Er...  winching things?"
Insurer:  "I guess so..."

Hmm....  you did better with that question than I did...

"what are you planning on using the winch for"

Wool Winding?  Custard Stirring ?   It's a capston, I was planning on using it as a small and rather uncomfortable potters wheel...

I think the phrase they were looking for was "self recovery", still ask a silly question.

Not as good as this one though....

I see you've added a roofrack to the vehicle, does this alter the height of the vehicle in any way ?

Winch comes in handy for pulling body panels on cars

Also my mate wanted to extract an engine and gearbox out of a micra, front end damaged, winch made short work of peeling away the metal, quite good fun doing it as well :D

Yep as well as stump removal, tightening fencing wires and hoisting the tree surgeon up into a large pine tree to cut away a few of the top branches. Oh and pulling a stuck cow out of a slurry pit.
