sorry mate but you are way wide of the mark with that. The reason young driver have small engined cars is not because they want them, its because they cant insure large engined cars.

i've looked at lots of 'normal' cars and it still works out as cheap to insure my 4.6 rrc...

and yes i have a big sports exhaust on it...slightly better noise than tin can corsa noise though

--- Quote from: "Lord Shagg-Pyle" ---surely it is a case of everything in moderation? My old Mini used to have a straight through 2" bore single box system on it. It went like stink and howled like a demon, but, I drove it in such a way that I didn't cause annoyance to people that lived nearby.

IKWYM, my rs2000 had a factory team 2 & 1/2" system with cone transistion from 4-2-1 tuned manifold,  it was only exhaust noisy when I had the back box off for repairs, however the 2 x 45DCOE's (mesh strainers, no filters) and Racing Services cam could turn a coppers head at 300 yards with its sharp intake of breath gutteral sound. So gently driving when in town was the norm.
The Sebring racing pipes on my Rickman Honda endurance racer were quite quiet below the power band, on song however it was a different issue, SWTSMBO heard me coming from a way off (about J9) one Sunday lunchtime when I passed our place at 160 mph plus...And could still hear me as I passed J10!
The whistling and farting chav mobiles, with added dump valve noise makers, along with crazy frog poo peds however really are a bloody nuisance!
