money in the pocket
TULL:
Ive come to a crossroads, later inthe year I get to 40, so my wife has said i have about £1000 ish to spend on a pressie, so how do I go about it?Do I
A-spend it on mods to the trooper and get a half decent offroader.
B Buy a cheap older Landy with no mods then slowly alter it over time.
All this came about when in a moment of madness got a copy of LRM from the news agent in my lunch hour, now I know what most of you will say but try to be objective ,PLEASE.
Andy.:
Do you like your Trooper enough to spend £1000 quid on it doing it up, is it worth it to you :?:
£1000 won't buy you much of a landie, probably not in as good of condition as your present motor anyway, then you'll have the expence of doing that one up.
Can you afford two MOT, two road taxes etc......
You could of course sell the trooper, get a better landie and put your £1000 to that :?:
Happy spending :D
TULL:
All good points it would make three mots and taxes as I also have a 406 estate.I must admit, the trooper would go if i went the Landie way.
Dangermouse:
If you want a motor to do up, a Landy has the meckarno bodywork & more off the shelf bolt on's, part suppliers & 4 monthley glossey mag's to give you more idea's than you can shake a stick at.
Plus you will have more fun in a motor your not to bothered about if you crease a wing or some sutch. or at least that's what my wife swallowed
DM :)
Andy the Landy:
Must agree about the old Landy bit - I paid peanuts for ours and parts really are dirt cheap, even cheaper if you can fit them yourself. One thing I've found is that I spend a lot of time fixing little jobs which SWMBO moans about. If you go down the old Landy route dont forget the lack of creature comforts as at the end of the day its 40yr old technology.
I agree with Dangermouse on the creased wing bit - a size 9 or 10 can usually un-crease most of it :D
