I don't want to use pop rivets to fix my chequer plate trim!

As the title really.
I don't want to use pop rivets to fix my chequer plate door trim to my Disco. I don't think that rivets on the back of the door edges looks neat.
I fancy using double sided "trim tape", the sort that fixes body mouldings, etc. Anyone got any other suggestions?
BTW, I promise to.....

you need a proper fixing, as trim tape wont hold the weight and if anything hard brushes up againt it it will fall off, so if not poprivits then maybe pk screws or simular ?

PMSL
You could use Stainless countersunk or button heads bolts.
A decent silicone like sikkaflex (291 I think) will bond it very well...don't use the cheap DIY ones.
Other than that you could try play doh!
Have you tried using the chequer plate paint :(biglaugh):
Sorry couldn't resist

I'm not keen on anything which will break the surface of the door/wing.
Where would I get sikkaflex from, I've not seen it in any DIY stores.
I'm doing really well so far. I've kept the thread on target and nobody has taken offence or locked my post. Thanks guys.
BTW, what does PMSL mean?
