kkkkks of mods how much have u spent.

mentalmoshio sophs V8i:
you can spend loads but could save loads by shopping around.

datalas:
Indeed you can shop around and get a "bargain"

However, I would be remiss in my duties if I didn't at least suggest that there are some elements where the savings could be false economy, dangerous or some odd combination of the two.

Some of the best examples of this mentality are remoulded tyres,  I have bought a set of "good" remould tyres from a reputable company, indeed I went out of my way to choose the ones with the highest speed and load ratings in the hopes that this somehow reflected on the quality of the tyre.

For the safety issue, I have had two of these tyres die on me in the last year, one de laminated internally at speed and caused the vehicle to take on what could only be described as a bowel loosening judder.  The second tyre went on a lane .

My father, who owns an identical set of tyres has achieved less than half the distance on them than he did on his previous set of tyres, illustrating the economy factor.  Granted, they cost 2/3rds the price, but they last half as long :?

The point to consider, whenever you spend any money on your vehicle is how much is the job worth doing ?   There are a whole host of jobs this doesn't apply to, the radio, interior lighting, spot lights etc and you see a great deal of people who will happily add £300s worth of lights to the front of a vehicle they only use in daylight, but balk at spending £4.50 on a rated shackle when they can get an ebay one for less [1].

Safety equipment (and yes, this includes winches) can kill if it breaks,  it is vitally important and in my opinion my life is worth rather more than the cost of a good shackle/rope/winch/tyre/etc..

Anyhow, I think I might have just gone off on a rant, so I'll shut up now.

[1] I'm not picking on anyone specifically in this btw, so if you are a person who falls into this stereotype don't attack me please, it's my opinion and nothing else.

I couldn't agree more with what Datalas has said
Do the job right, the first time and you'll save in the long run
