Newer or older?
lambert:
Should i sell the mav and buy a Jimny?
For. A car that is four not fourteen. No need to get oily unless i want to. Cheaper to insure and uses less juice. Loads of toys.
Against. Lot of money i don't have so more debt. Relative fuel cost only 500quid a year more to run mav which when set against purchase price means years of motoring cost spread out not one lump. I like getting oily. Not many off the shelf toys which keeps a healthier bank ballence.
So what to do?
martha focker:
buy a landy
Bishops Finger:
Buy a Jeep
lambert:
Ok.
Not withstanding the actual vehicle, from a purely fiscal stand point which would you choose a newer more expensive to buy cheaper to maintain motor or an older cheaper to buy more expensive to maintain one.
By maintain i mean the whole process of keeping it on the road so fuel, rfl, insurance, servicing, repairs, depreciation etc.
In the past i have been a firm advocate of buy cheap but i have been given first refusal on a newer car and i'm now doubting myself.

To be fair, I had a Zuk and it was great. The reason I got rid was because it was too new and scary on the lanes, you worried about little scratches etc. It was a good car and like most Suzuki's reliable.
However I love the Terrano, its big, got good diff clearence and dispite the big engine, not too bad on fiel.
To be fair the choice is yours, however you will have to change your user name if you do change the car! LOL
