Volvo verses Ford

(1/5) > >>

Bush Tucker Man:
SWMBO is up for a new 'works van' soon.

Sadly Skoda still isn't on 'the list' yet, as far as I know :?

So when we took her Mondeo in for its 75,000mile service last week we looked at the new Mondeo.

It looks quite nice, a bit longer & wider, same seats which are an important factor with all her travelling.

She's quite taken with it & seems to fancy one, I'm trying to persuade her to go for an estate instead of the 5-door this time.

However
I quite like the look of the Volvo V50.
Okay I know it's a smaller vehicle (being essentially Focus sized), but I think it looks quite neat & tidy.
It's big enough & (presumably) comfortable, as the company seems to major on driver comfort.
My old 740 estate was marvellous in that respect & I've never heard a Traffic Officer complain about their Volvos
'Ditto' the Paramedics who have a couple as 'Fast Response Cars'

So the big question is
Does anyone have a V50 & can comment on it in anyway at all. Please

'new' Mondeo
V50

beast5680:
dont ford own volvo? :?  so its the same thing :D
i prefer the look of the mondeo to be honest

Bishops Finger:
Ford own Volvo..

Whilst can't comment on newer Volvo's comfort level, Mondys seem over the years to have quietly excelled at setting a good standard (especially since the demise of the much underrated Grenade/Scorpio range)

Owned a Mondy V6 and a Grenade in the past and based on history a Mondy gets a vote

thermidorthelobster:
I had a V70 (current shape) a few years back and really liked it, but the Jatco auto box gave me a few problems.

Guardian.:
only ever hired the volvo in spain about a month ago(saloon), definately wouldnt buy one, a week of driving it was more than enough, but, for a td was extremely fast.
the new mondeo for a car is a cracking bit of kit now. got the looks and the trim to match, should think im gona have to change her indoors one again! :(
