P38 power drain.

(1/2) > >>

ScrumpyJack:
My battery keeps going flat
I can put a fully charged bat on it, then within a week its flat, so I jump start it drive it around or leave it running for a couple Hrs next day flat and so on,

there is 600w amp fitted, thought it might be drawing power over night, unplugged it but no difference, occasionally when I turn the ignition on it gives an alternator fault, but goes out when car started, put a meter on and it shows bat charging at just under 14 V,

Thought it might be a bad bat so bought a new one, same thing.

any ideas, can the alternator be drawing the power somehow when car turned off,

thermidorthelobster:
Probably the alarm ECU coming on because it's sensing radio interference from a weather station, garage door sensor or similar.

There's an updated ECU which doesn't have this problem.

Have a look at www.landywiki.co.uk for details and how to troubleshoot.

ScrumpyJack:
Andycwb suggested the same thing, but cant find anyone close to me with 1 of those type weather stations, and defiantly no remote garage doors, recently bought and suspect the lad had the same prob.

thermidorthelobster:
Have you disconnected the alarm ECU to see if the drain still occurs?
