Hand brake
« on: January 08, 2005, 20:09:10 »
I adjusted my hand brake last weekend and it was fine, this weekend it no longer works correctly :-(  (after mud plugging)

What I'm not sure is if it's the shoes or the cable that needs replacing (or both) or whehter the mechanism is seized.

The hand brake cable is at the end of its adjustment and I've adjusted the square thingy until with the handbrake off the car is just free to move.

When I pull the handbrake on I can get three clicks but it won't go any further, this fails to engage the brake.

If I wind the adjuster in a little on the drum it will lock the drum but the brake will not disengage now.

The only thing that I can think of that would cause this is a seized mechanism but I'm sure someone will know exactly what this is.

Your help, as usual very much appreciated!
Matthew
