Christmas is coming, the shareholders are getting fat!

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
Now that our misearble summer is finally sputtering to an end, I thought I would make you all happy with  the lyrics from a song about the true meaning of Christmas, for todays modern way of life. It was written by that most rare of creatures, an American who understands sarcasm. He went by the name Tom Leh3rer. The 3 was silent.

Christmas time is here, by golly,
Disapproval would be folly.
Deck the halls with hunks of holly,
Fill the cup and don't say when.

Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens,
Mix the punch, drag out the Dickens.
Even though the prospect sickens,
Brother, here we go again.

On Christmas Day you can't get sore,
Your fellow man you must adore.
There's time to rob him all the more
The other three hundred and sixty-four.

Relations, sparing no expense, 'll
Send some useless old utensil,
Or a matching pen and pencil.
("Just the thing I need, how nice!")

It doesn't matter how sincere it is,
Nor how heart felt the spirit,
Sentiment will not endear it,
What's important is the price.

Hark, the Herald Tribune sings,
Advertising wondrous things.
God rest ye merry merchants,
May ye make the Yuletide pay.
Angels we have heard on high,
Tell us to go out and buy!

So, let the raucous sleigh bells jingle,
Hail our dear old friend Kris Kringle,
Driving his reindeer across the sky.
Don't stand underneath when they fly by.

Actually, I did rather well myself this past Christmas. The nicest present I received was a gift certificate good at any hospital for a lobotomy... rather thoughtful.

Put the 'Christ' back into Christ's Mass I say!

Am I the only one here who will be going to church Christmas day?

Wanderer:
Not at all. ;)

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
I suppose I could be classed as a practising agnostic.
The only thing I truly believe in, is the ability of the Human race to make a fowl up of everything it gets involved with.

Hold on there... you lot stole it from the pagans.  It used to be mid-winter feast until someone decided to give it a new name.

Personally, I've never been in a church for anything other than a wedding, funeral, or to marvel at the ostentatious display of wealth and art that should be donated to looking after the poor, so I'm certainly not going to spend time there on Christmas when it should be spent with friends and family.
