D.I.Y Snorkel - I'm going for it! (any advice welcome!)
treeman:
read this last nite a ran out to b&q with the shopping list lol how have u joined it all to the intake pipe on the filter??? looked close at the pics an cant see how its airtight, cheers for gettin my backside into gear lol
stuntman:
Currently they are smothered in black silicone inside and out, I will however be taking it apart at the weekend and using a plastic cement to bond it together, I have plenty of door seal lying around if you are local to me and you want some for tidying up the wing.
I am using a wide strip of rubber between the pipe and the air box and a big jubilee clamp.
There is definitly an improvement in available torque from the engine low down.
Come on everyone, who else is joining project drainpipe!

most common cause is the water dump valve...

I'd thought of testing my Southdown and basically just held a piece of paper up to the intake and made sure it stayed there (on the Southdown air can still get in round the sides if that makes sense...the intake is not flat). Although probably not a good enough test!
Intrigued by your "stall it" idea, although I might put a quick call in to Dave at Southdown first to make sure that the flexi will recover! Where is this water dump valve by the way?
Thanks!
stuntman:
Hello there, the water dump vale on the 200 tdi is (as you look into the engine bay) at the front bottom left of the air box, small rubber thing.
Hope that helps
