D.I.Y Snorkel - I'm going for it! (any advice welcome!)

extreme90:
have you tested the snorkel yet to see if its water tight ?
remove the snorkel top , have the engine at a smidge above tick over and then put your hand onto the tube, the engine should stall if its sealed good

alot of people fit snorkels but fail to test them

Thanks for that, I will do first thing in the morning, that is the best advice so far Dan.

extreme90:
dont be alarmed when all the pipes suck in, thats ok
be alarmed if you hear hissing from a air leak
most common cause is the water dump valve
i will always suggest blanking that off IMO but some prefer to leave it in

i however run with no airbox on my 90, so ino theres nothing to leak

--- Quote from: "stuntman" ---Heloo suggs, that's the plan. Have it all in place and if and when my skills improve I'd like to be able to everything I want without thinking if it will all be ok.

I work in the hydraulics and pnuematics business, as well as bearings and fastners etc, so I'll be doing my own version of what cheviot 4x4 offer, I'll post some prices aswell for the individual components if it helps anyone. I may also be able to supply these as a kit at not much more than cost, but I'll need to see if it's a viable option.

Discoverytdi, my plan was to mount it closer but there are a few problems with estimating the cut hole etc, if I do it again it will end up being closer in to the pillar.

The mushroom top came from Paddocks which is only about 15mins from where I live.

Thanks everyone!

Hello chap, sorry I don't off hand, they do advertise it in their ads in LRM and the other publications, they call it a snorkel mushroom top if that helps!
